Wreaths Across America events in Everett and Bedford Friday morning were held to honor local veterans with the laying of wreaths at monuments in the towns.

James Francis Miller, 89, of Lock Haven, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home.
Born in Lock Haven on Dec. 23, 1931, he was the son of the late George M. and Dorothy Sellers Miller.
James attended St. Agnes Catholic School prior to graduating from Lock Haven High School.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving during the Korean War from 1952 until his Honorable Discharge in 1954.
In 1955 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Lock Haven, James married the former G. Marie Bailey, who survives.
He was employed at HRB Systems until his retirement in 1989.
James was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, attending St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Lock Haven American Legion and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

A state-run psychiatric hospital with a long history of struggling to employ enough workers is now so short-staffed that it risks violating federal requirements for patient care, Spotlight PA has learned.
In an emergency request, the Department of Human Services said Torrance State Hospital in western Pennsylvania was operating short-staffed essentially every day because it can’t recruit enough aides, and doing so could put funding for the hospital in jeopardy.
An outside expert who reviewed the department’s request to hire a staffing agency said its description of conditions at the hospital raised serious questions about risks for both patients and staff.
