Real estate market starts strong
Jackson Hole real estate sales continued to thrive during the first quarter in the face of pandemic and national economic worries.
Katie Brady of Jackson Hole Real Estate Associates, the local Christieâs affiliate, noted 48 sales in March as economic woes in other parts of the United States appear to have continued to drive the demand for property in Jackson Hole and nearby. Brady said that the number of deals was âmore than double the number of sales last Marchâ and that âtotal sales volume increased from $18 million to $156 million.â
The total was driven by an average sales price that topped $3 million for the third time in the past five months, Brady said.
Grand Teton National Park officials recently tried and failed to get federal aviation officials to crack down on a scenic helicopter tour pilot who promised last year to not overfly the park, but has made a habit of flying low over the federal propertyâs southeastern reaches.
The operator in question, Wind River Air owner Tony Chambers, maintains heâs only flying over the national park when heâs coming into or leaving Jackson Hole Airport â and especially beelining it out when he has sightseeing clients aboard. But Teton Park and the airport have been receiving an earful from community members displeased to be seeing and hearing helicopters over portions of Jackson Hole and the national park that have lacked commercial chopper clatter until now.

Come summer 2021 it will be possible to step on a plane at Jackson Hole Airport and jet straight to Los Angeles for as cheap as $59 a leg.
A $49 fare could put you into Reno-Tahoe International Airport, which is potentially the smallest metropolitan area thatâs ever been directly connected commercially through the air to Teton County, Wyoming.
Those new budget travel options come courtesy of the addition of Allegiant Air, which is the third new airline to add service to Jackson Hole since 2018. The Las Vegas-based carrier followed Alaska Airlines and Frontier Airlines, which joined the traditional legacy airlines that serve the valley: United, American and Delta. (Frontier discontinued its service during the virus-stricken summer of 2020 and has not indicated if it will return.)
