Merging the two worlds together, the Shiga-based Omigyu beef shabu-shabu restaurant along with creative firm Kaya is highlighting Hokusai‘s famous works from his Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series of woodblock prints, combining it with the country’s highest-ranked A5 grade beef it’s ukiyo-e-meets-wagyu. Each 700g pack of beef comes framed with the artwork, where Hyotanya recommends replacing the empty space where the beef was with red paper after consuming. The following day he had a stroke while at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, where he remained for a week of care. Now two months later, Oatman is hale and hearty and holed up in his Lansingburgh studio/home on medical leave from his faculty post at RPI.
