Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends Fourth Judicial District Candidates to Governor Walz
[ST. PAUL, MN] – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending five candidates for consideration to fill two vacancies in Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District. These vacancies will occur upon the retirements of the Honorable Margaret A. Daly and the Honorable Kathleen D. Sheehy. These seats are chambered in Minneapolis in Hennepin County.

Renowned psychologist John Gottman had three messages for the graduate degree candidates assembled at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday, for an in-person and physically distanced commencement during a year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first, from the UW alumnus considered a pioneer in the psychology of relationships: “Follow your heart undertake what’s most meaningful for you.”

MADISON, Wis. (CN) A federal judge in Madison ruled on Friday that reservation lands held by four Chippewa tribes in northern Wisconsin cannot be taxed by the state if they have been under Indian ownership since being allotted by the federal government.
In November 2018, the plaintiff tribes sued former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, then-Wisconsin Secretary of Revenue Richard Chandler and 11 northern Wisconsin towns and their assessors in federal court over the state’s attempts to assess and tax property within the boundaries of their respective reservations.
