New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to pass any direction on a plea seeking formulation of a scheme on setting up of community kitchens to combat hunger and malnutrition, observing that the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and other welfare schemes are being implemented by the Centre and states.
Sarma said the poverty headcount ratio in the state has come down from 36.97 per cent in 2013-14 to 14.47 per cent in 2022-23. He added that as many as 24.82 crore people moved out of multidimensional poverty in nine years from 2013-14 to 2022-23. Sarma on Tuesday attended the ceremonial distribution of ration cards to 42,85,745 new beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act at an event held at Boripara locality of Guwahati s Maligaon.
Over 42 lakh new beneficiaries in Assam will be brought under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) as the government plans to distribute ration cards to 10.73 lakh families. The distribution will begin in January and the beneficiaries will also receive Ayushman cards. The government aims to ensure no needy family goes hungry.
