Armstrong, who had just one goal in 62 games last year in his rookie season, recorded a hat trick by 9:48 of the second period and tacked on an empty netter late in the third. Taylor Gauthier kicked out 37-of-38 shots while Riley Heidt chipped in with two assists to help the Cougars (3-2-2) improve to 2-0-2 in their last four contests. ....

At the other end of the ice, Tyler Brennan had a busy night in net, stopping all 43 shots he faced in regulation. Brayden Schuurman put up two goals for the Royals (0-3-1) who are still looking for their first win of the season.
