WHL Roundup: Craig Armstrong strikes four times in Cougars 4-1 win over Giants

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Craig Armstrong scored in every period and finished with a career-high four goals as the Prince George Cougars downed the Vancouver Giants 4-1 on Monday in Western Hockey League play.
Armstrong, who had just one goal in 62 games last year in his rookie season, recorded a hat trick by 9:48 of the second period and tacked on an empty netter late in the third.
Taylor Gauthier kicked out 37-of-38 shots while Riley Heidt chipped in with two assists to help the Cougars (3-2-2) improve to 2-0-2 in their last four contests.

REGINA - Nolan Maier registered 42 saves, leading the Saskatoon Blades to a 3-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.
Kyle Crnkovic had a goal and an assist for the Blades (12-2-2), while Brandon Lisowsky and Chase Wouters also scored.
Ridly Greig whittled Saskatoon s lead to one, burying a shot with six seconds left on the clock. Ben McCartney also had a goal for the Wheat Kings (11-3-2).
Brandon goalie Ethan Kruger stopped 19-of-22 shots. -

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Tristen Nielsen buried the lone goal in the shootout, leading the Vancouver Giants to a 1-0 victory over the Prince George Cougars in Western Hockey League action Sunday.
Trent Miner stopped 14 shots to record his second-straight win for the Giants (3-1-0).
At the other end of the ice, Tyler Brennan had a busy night in net, stopping all 43 shots he faced in regulation.
The Cougars fell to 1-2-1 on the season. -

SPOKANE, WASH. Conner Roulette scored the game winner with 13 seconds left in overtime and the Thunderbirds (5-3-0) completed a comeback to edge the winless Chiefs (0-4-3).

KELOWNA, B.C. - It was close but the Kamloops Blazers kept their perfect record in tact with a 4-3 overtime win against the Victoria Royals in Western Hockey League play on Saturday.
Logan Stankoven delivered the game winner for the Blazers (4-0-0) 1:39 into added time. The 18-year-old forward also had a goal and two assists in regulation.
Brayden Schuurman put up two goals for the Royals (0-3-1) who are still looking for their first win of the season.
Victoria goalie Adam Evanoff stopped 48-of-52 shots and Kamloops netminder Dylan Garand tallied 16 saves.
