Sunday. president obama left washington this morning and met governor chris christie and fema director craig fugate. kristen, what do we know about the tour of the president today? reporter: hi there, thomas. president obama has just arrived in a suburb of paterson, new jersey. he s getting a firstland look of the damage here in paterson, new jersey. this was was not of the areas hardest hit by irene. one week ago when irene touched down, 1500 people had to be evacuated. hundreds and thousands of people lost power. homes were destroyed, businesses were destroyed, complete city blocks were submerged. this area was incredibly hard hit and the president has declared new jersey a state of disaster because the damage here was so severe. that means federal funding to help rebuild, to help put the pieces back together, so right ....
