What's in a Room? "June’s Room" is the new exhibit in the Museum’s history exhibition At Home in the Heartland. It presents the teenage experiences of Vincent “June” Chappelle who grew up on the south side of Chicago. As an alternative queer Black teen, June’s bedroom was a sanctuary of safety and self-expression. See the exhibition virtually and hear June talk about his experiences and how he hopes audiences identify with his past. ISM Curator of History Erika Holst will also discuss her experiences working on the project and how it fits into the Museum’s commitment to be more inclusive in its storytelling.
