COVID-19 Bills Signed Into Law As NJ Hits Highest Case Total Ever

NEW JERSEY – New Jersey had its highest daily COVID-19 case total ever on Saturday just as Gov. Phil Murphy has signed more coronavirus bills into law.
Murphy reported 6,435 new cases on Saturday, just two days after the state hit a record high of 6,314 new cases on Thursday. Both topped the previous high mark established on Dec. 12th. It was only the fourth time New Jersey had more than 6,000 cases reported in one day.
Another 5,032 cases and 36 deaths were reported on Sunday.

Murphy also reported 102 additional deaths on Saturday, the first time New Jersey topped 100 daily fatalities for five consecutive days since May. ....

TRENTON – In a press release issued by Governor Phil Murphy s office, leaders from across the state expressed their support for the New Jersey Economic Recovery Act of 2020, which will be voted on in the Legislature on Monday. 
Today’s announcement builds upon 34 New Jersey leaders issuing support for the package yesterday, bringing the total to 77 supporters, including the Governor, Senate President, and Speaker, said the release.
Mayor Angie Devanney showed her support of the legislation and was quoted along with other County and Municipal Officials. “I am excited by the possibilities of programs such as Main Street recovery Finance Program as Berkeley Heights businesses are still reeling from the pandemic. This is the hope we needed in our community,” said Devanney. “As a community built on the technology of Bell Labs as its headquarters in Murray Hill 1941, I am also truly thrilled about New Jersey Innovation Evergreen ....
