After high drama, GMERS doctors, nurses end strike | Vadodara News

GMERS Faculty Association after meeting with state home minister in Gandhinagar on Thursday night Vadodara: The GMERS Faculty Association on Friday ended its strike after the intervention of state home minister Pradipsinh Jadeja. The medical doctors at GMERS medical colleges across the state including GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Gotri resumed both Covid and non-Covid duties from Friday morning itself. Earlier, high drama had unfolded at Gandhinagar, where a couple of office-bearers of the association were allegedly detained by the cops at GMERS Gandhinagar campus. The association had alleged that cops were illegally using provisions of the Epidemic Act to threaten them and pressurize them to end the strike.

Healthcare workers protesting outside GMERS on Wednesday Vadodara: Healthcare workers in the forefront of the battle against Covid-19 have started protests across Gujarat. After the 24 hours ultimatum given by it to the state government ended on Wednesday, the GMERS Faculty Association, the body of faculty members of all the eight GMERS Medical Colleges of the state, boycotted Covid-19 duties from Wednesday noon. On International Nurses Day, the GMERS Nurses Association at GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Gotri too joined the doctors of the hospital in their strike to press for their long pending demands. The United Nurses Forum (UNF) at state-run SSG Hospital on the other hand has threatened to go on strike from May 18.

GMERS faculty threaten to stop Covid duties from today | Vadodara News

GMERS faculty members have stopped non-Covid duties and have threatened to stop Covid-19 duties in their respective medical colleges Vadodara: Faculty members of all the eight GMERS medical colleges of Gujarat started their ‘satyagrah’ against the Gujarat government from Tuesday. The faculty members including that of GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Gotri, have stopped non-Covid duties and threatened to stop Covid-19 duties in their respective medical colleges from Wednesday if their long pending demands are not addressed in 24 hours. The GMERS Faculty Association said it has given additional 24 hours in view of the Covid-19 patients who are admitted at their hospitals.
