Apple s supplier in China accused of using forced Uyghur labourers
Lens Technology Co., a key supplier of touch screens for Apple, used thousands of Uyghur labourers from the predominantly Muslim region of Xinjiang in China, according to an investigation by Tech Transparency Project (TTP).

SAN FRANCISCO: Lens Technology Co., a key supplier of touch screens for Apple, used thousands of Uyghur labourers from the predominantly Muslim region of Xinjiang in China, according to an investigation by Tech Transparency Project (TTP).
This is not the first time Apple s supply chain has been linked to alleged forced labour from the Xinjiang region, said the The Washington Post which first reported the TTP findings this week.

NEW DELHI: The dates of the the CBSE Board examinations for Classes X and XII in 2021 have been announced. The examinations will kick off in May this time round. The board examinations will commence from May 4 and end on June 10. The results of the class 10 and 12 Board examinations will be announced by July 15.
On Thursday evening, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank made an official announcement with regard to the dates of the examinations.
67 Persons Penalised for Drink Driving on New Year s Eve in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police have penalised as many as 67 persons for drink driving on December 31 night in the city.
According to reports, the police have realised fines to the tune of Rs 63,000.
The police set up check posts and checked vehicles at places like Ambari, ABC, Ganeshguri, Dispur, Jalukbari, Chandmari, and Ulubari, among others.
The drive was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Police (Traffic) Pranjit Borah along with the officials from Transport, Excise and Health Departments.

GUWAHATI: A garage – Pandit Maruti Repairing Centre with a number of vehicles – and a house near it owned by Ganga Rabha gutted at Lachit Nagar near Government Banikanta College of Teachers Education in Guwahati on Thursday. The fire broke out from the garage and caught the nearby house where as many as eight families have been staying on rent. Around five
cylinders went off at the blazing. Firefighters extinguished the fire.

WASHINGTON: US President-elect Joe Biden has criticised the Donald Trump-led administration s distribution of coronavirus vaccines, saying it was falling behind schedule.
Biden said the vaccine drive was the greatest operational challenge we ve ever faced as a nation , the BBC reported. The Trump administration had aimed to vaccinate 20 million Americans by the end of December.
So far, only 2.1 million have received shots, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Trump administration s plan to distribute vaccines is falling far behind, Biden said in a speech on Tuesday. I m going to move Heaven and Earth to get us going in the right direction.
