New Bedford Neighborhood COVID Testing to Continue Walk-up, free, neighborhood-based COVID-19 testing conducted by Seven Hills Behavioral Health will continue in New Bedford through the end of March, instead of closing down on January 15, the city s Beacon Hill delegation announced. Since July, Seven Hills has offered COVID testing at 754 Brock Avenue and 350 Coggeshall Street. The health center was selected by the state s COVID-19 Command Center to provide testing in the cities of Fall River and New Bedford as part of the Stop the Spread Initiative. However, in December, state lawmakers were notified that the neighborhood testing sites would close down. ....
FALL RIVER Nancy Paull isn’t the only one champing at the bit for the first round of COVID-19 vaccines. But unlike most of us, Paull knows just how overwhelming it can be trying to keep pace with testing requests. “We’re at the tipping point here,” the chief executive of Stanley Street Treatment and Resources, or SSTAR, said, referring to the ongoing demand for free coronavirus testing. Paull, who has been CEO of SSTAR for 34 years, says her non-profit which offers free coronavirus testing five days a week at its two Fall River sites has had a waiting list of people eager to be swabbed. ....
