The University told Palatinate that “It hasn’t yet been determined” exactly what will go where. Estimates for the size of the University’s new student accommodation developments have been published on the City of Durham Parish Council’s website. The figures were provided to the planning inspectorate by Durham University following the publication of its Estate Masterplan which includes the development of new colleges by 2027. The plans include up to 1,000 new beds on the Hild Bede College site at Leazes Road, 400-500 new beds on the Elvet Hill car park site adjacent to Trevelyan College and up to 500 new beds behind Josephine Butler College. The latter could potentially mean the loss of the college’s orchard and allotment. ....
OTLEY is set to get a second charging station amid increasing demand from drivers of electric cars. The town already has one charging point - at the Licks car park on Cattle Market Street. Local councillors have been approached by a number of residents asking about charging points - most of them people who have bought electric cars or are thinking about doing so. Now the town is set to get a second charging station in Beech Hill Car Park funded from a government grant and maintained by the company which installs it. Otley and Yeadon councillors Sandy Lay, Colin Campbell and Ryk Downes are welcoming the latest proposals to expand the network of electric car charging points in Otley. ....
