2021 veterans banners must be ordered by Feb. 26; limited spots available • • The 2020 veterans banners have been taken down in uptown Hillsboro for the winter.
All banners are now ready for pickup at the Highland County Veterans Services Office. Pickup hours are Monday-Friday (except federal holidays) between 8:30-11:45 a.m. and 1:15-3:45 p.m.
There are still spots available for the 2021 season, but time is running out to order your veteran s banner(s) for the upcoming 2021 season. There are about 30 available slots left. The cutoff date is Friday, Feb. 26 – or when all available spots are taken.

Remembering fallen veterans, those who serve
Following a moment of silence, members of the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Highland County Veterans Services Office participated in a wreath-laying ceremony Saturday morning at the veterans memorial on the Highland County courthouse square. Honor Guard veteran Gerold Wilkin rendered a military salute as, shown from left, veterans service office outreach coordinator Steph Roland and Pat Young of the local DAR formally laid the wreath as part of the national Wreaths Across America observance. According to Wilkin, Wreaths Across America has a three-fold purpose: to remember the fallen U.S. veterans, to honor those who serve, and to teach children the value of freedom.
