Read Article 100 Years Ago: 1921 The Women’s Home Missionary Society of the High Street Methodist Church entertained “Mother’s Jewels”, the junior society, in the vestry Thursday afternoon. A fine program and games were in order, and refreshments were served. A large number of parents and children were present. Mrs. A.E. Chitenden is president of the society. 50 Years Ago: 1971 Mrs. Marcia Moulin entertained the Lake Grove Extension Women at her East Auburn home Tuesday evening for the final meeting of the season. The evening was highlighted by a potluck supper after which the new chairman, Mrs. Ethelyn Allen conducted the business session. Plans were discussed for the coming season which will open on Sept. 7 at the Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute. ....

Clarissa May Titus Damon was born on May 5, 1926 in Auburn, daughter of Rethwell Springer and Doris Mae Leslie Titus. She grew up and attended elementary school in North Auburn. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1944 where her yearbook described her as a person who “hails everyone with a smile that makes her eyes twinkle”. That twinkle and smile defined her life. ....
