(Shutterstock) BERMUDA DUNES, CA A pedestrian fatally struck by an SUV in Bermuda Dunes was identified Friday as 48-year-old Palm Desert resident. Regina Avila suffered fatal injuries at 5:25 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Washington Street and Hidden River Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff s Department. Deputies sent to the scene found the victim in the roadway. Despite first responders attempts to save her, Avila was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff s Sgt. Deanna Pecoraro said.
