SEABROOK – In the true tradition of “The Show Must Go On,” Seabrook is resurrecting its previously canceled Memorial Day Parade.
On May 30, the day’s activities will start at 9 a.m. with commemorative ceremonies at the veterans memorial in front of Seabrook Town Hall. The parade will step off following that from the Town Hall parking lot.
Seabrook’s Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies are organized annually by American Legion Post 70 and the town’s Recreation Department. Last year, due to the coronavirus pandemic it was canceled because health guidelines discouraged events that drew large crowds.
Jesse Brown, Jr., commander of Post 70, told selectmen Monday that at first this year things looked grim. Initially, he said, few past participating groups were willing to take part when organizers reached out to them in March. As a result, the recommendation on May 3 was to cancel the parade again, although ceremonies at the veterans memorials were still planned. ....
