Until last month, Baldauf was at Queen’s Park, working as chief of staff to Peter Bethlenfalvy, who, until very recently, was president of the Treasury Board. Shortly after Christmas, Bethlenfalvy was tapped by Ontario Premier Doug Ford to replace Rod Phillips as Finance minister after Phillips stepped down after it was revealed he’d travelled to St. Barts over the holidays, despite the government asking people to stay home because of COVID. In addition to Bethlenfalvy’s role as Finance minister, he continues to serve as president of the Treasury Board.
