Norway’s Aker Solutions has won the front-end engineering and design contract for Nordic Blue Crude’s (NBC) new e-fuel facility at Heroya in Norway.
E-fuels production uses electrical power in the process. The blue crude process will use renewable electricity, water and carbon dioxide as feedstock. The process starts when water vapour is broken down into hydrogen and oxygen.
The e-fuel plant is planned to produce CO
2-neutral fuel by using green hydrogen and furnace gas from an existing factory.
Based on the FEED results, NBC aims to sanction the start of the detailed engineering, procurement, construction and installation work within the second half of this year.
