County historical society receives grant
The Bartholomew County Historical Society has received a $4,999 grant to sand, feather, paint and glaze windows and paint doors at the McEwen-Samuels-Marr House, a National Register of Historic Places site.
The grant is from the Indiana Historical Society from its Heritage Support Grants program. Grants range up to $50,000 to local historical societies and organizations around Indiana.
In addition to the Bartholomew County grant, the Jackson County History Center received $4,999 to purchase materials and fund labor costs to update electrical wiring int he C.T. Robertson Livery Barn.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) Heritage Support Grants (HSG) program will soon award 2021 Project Grant funds to local historical organizations.
The Bartholomew County Historical Society will receive $4,999 for renovations to the McEwen-Samuels-Marr House. The restorations will help ensure that the building and collections housed within are protected.
“Since 2016, organizations have used HSG funds to increase responsiveness to community needs, effectively manage community treasures, and tell their community’s unique stories,” said IHS President/CEO Jody Blankenship.
