But these three men and their staff came to potsdam not to begin a cold war amongst themselves, but celebrate, really, the end of the war with germany, figu ....

CSPAN3 Lectures In History 1920s Culture Society July 12, 2024

Pretty well, you might have been left with a question in your minds what was the legacy of world war i for American Society . Now the politics of the United States definitely veered to the right during the 1920s. Republican president s, fairly conservative ones were electedly landslides, 1920, 1924, and 1928. Congress was under the control of the republicans throughout the 1920s. With support of congress, republican president s signed bills which rolled back the income tax increases that were passed during world war i. And the leading social movements on the left, labor unions and the socialist party, both lost members during the war. In fact, the socialist party was never really a factor in american politics again after the 1920 election. And people on the left, generally, whether people we consider to be liberals, former progressives or radicals were theon the defensive du ....

Department of to atomic weapons, ending world war ii. Culminates with this event 75 years ago. In the midst of what is going on in the country, why is it significant to pause and never this event so long ago . Guest i do not know if it is significant, but it is interesting and that was enough for me. And one of the joys about researching and writing and now talking about this book, has nothing to do with donald trump. I do not mean that either as praise or denigration. In this world that is highly polarized. A zerosum game, all of that. And it was kind of refreshing to go back to 1945, even though we were in the mids ....

I have received this afternoon a message from the japanese government, and reply to the message forwarded to that government by the secretary of state on august 11. I deem this reply a full acceptance of the potsdam declaration. It specifies the Unconditional Surrender of japan, in their reply, there is no qualification.
