Financing creative industry GCPP's priority – Henry Lartey – Ghana Visions


Right environment
According to Dr Lartey, while neighbouring Nigeria has been raking in revenue from its creative industry, successive governments had left the industry to develop on its own over the years, dwindling its fortunes.
“My government will find a way of helping the creative industry by financing it adequately so creative persons can rise higher and higher.
“Once we improve the industry, the Ghallywood we are desiring will stand out brightly and Ghana will be the best among the best,” he said.
 
According to Dr Lartey, Ghana has a lot of talents who if given the support, could rise to any level and become more competitive on the international front. ....

Supreme Court Calculations Towards Decision


 
Working out simple arithmetics was at the heart of the decision by the Supreme Court to dismiss the 2020 presidential election petition.
With the calculations based on additions and subtractions, the apex court was able to determine that President Akufo-Addo indeed won the December 7, 2020 presidential election by obtaining more than 50 per cent of the total valid votes cast as required by Article 63 (3) of the 1992 Constitution.
These calculations were based on the figures used by the Electoral Commission (EC) in the declaration of the presidential results on December 9, 2020.
In dismissing the petition filed by former President John Dramani Mahama, the court held that the petitioner did not provide any evidence to challenge the figures announced by the EC. ....

Political Parties Embark On Ghana Peace Walk


 
The undersigned Political Party leaders contested in the 2020 General Elections organized by the Electoral Commission (EC) on the ticket of our respective parties are to embark on a Peace walk on Thursday 24th December 2020 at Obra Sport.
According to them, prior to the declaration of the Presidential and Parliamentary results  an intense protests and demonstrations erupted in some parts of the country of which some turned into violent.

Israel marks Hanukkah with representatives of political parties
The Embassy of Israel on Friday marked its annual “Hanukkah,” (a Jewish festival of lights), in Accra, with representatives of all political parties that contested the December 7 Election in attendance.
Ms Shani Cooper-Zubida, the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, in a short address, said the invitation was part of the activities to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Explaining the rationale behind the annual celebration of the Festival of Lights by the Jew for the past 2,000 years, Ms Cooper-Zubida, said it marked the victory of the Maccabees over the Syrian Greek army (great Hellenic empire), and the subsequent miracle of rededicating the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and restoring the menorah (Lamp). ....
