Here are the closing numbers. The dow jones industriaag advanced 228 points to 25,803. The nasdaq added 49. The s p 500 was up 18. And it was a strong week for all three. So how does this start to a year compare to others . What might happen next . Mike santoli set out to find some answers. Reporter stocks have accelerated into 2018 with a burst of fresh energy, making for the markets hottest start in 15 years. The s p 500 index has already gained 4 in 2018. The best return over a similar span since 2003 when it was up 5. 8 . 2003 turned out great for investors with a 12month rise up 26 .
