SIBLINGS who started rowing at The Grange School have been selected for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Tom and Emily Ford are among the 45 rowers selected to feature for Team GB at the delayed Games this summer.
Both now represent the Leander club, where they moved to progress their careers as full-time athletes, and it will be their first appearance at an Olympic Games after having represented their country at international level for some time.
And the symmetry continues in that they have both been selected in the eights, Tom, 29, in the men s and Emily, 26, in the women s. ....

Helen Glover is step closer to being first British rower to compete at Olympics after having child


Helen Glover says becoming the first mother to row for Great Britain at an Olympics is the ‘biggest achievement’ of her career after the double gold medallist was confirmed in the team for Tokyo.
The 34-year-old took time out from the sport to start a family following her success at Rio 2016, only announcing her comeback in January – six months out from the Games.
But Glover - who had son Logan in July 2018 and twins, Kit and Bo, in January 2020 – completed her mission ‘impossible’ yesterday when she was named in Team GB’s 45-strong rowing squad, where she will partner Polly Swann in the pair. ....

Hat-trick of golds as GB Rowing top medal table in Lucerne

A thrilling victory for the men’s eight completed a hat-trick of gold medals for the GB Rowing Team on the final day of action at the World Rowing Cup II in Lucerne.
Joshua Bugajski, Jacob Dawson, Morgan Bolding, Mo Sbihi, Charles Elwes, Thomas George, James Rudkin and Thomas Ford left it all out on the water as they pipped rivals Germany.
Led by cox Henry Fieldman, the GB prevailed on the final stroke to finish top of the podium in 05:24.26 as Germany crossed in 05:24.29 and the Netherlands took third (05:31.12).
That triumph in the men’s eight rounded off a successful day for GB, who finished top of the medal table, with a dominant performance from the men’s four also securing gold. ....
