Snow moved to Pennsylvania State university in 1995, where he served as head of the department of anthropology for the next 10 years. In 2005, he was a fellow at Dumbarton Oaks in washington, d. C. , the four returning to penn state as professor of anthropology. He served as president of the society for american archaeology from 2007 to 2009. He has also been closely involved with the development of digital antiquities, a Cyber Infrastructure program for the archiving of archaeological data, initiated with funding the Andrew Mellon foundation.
