Dismore criticises Barnet Council over Hendon consultation

A local politician has accused Barnet Council of handling a consultation on a development site “very badly” and called for the authority to undertake “real engagement”.
London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Andrew Dismore wrote to the council with a range of concerns over the consultation on the supplementary planning document (SPD) that will guide the Hendon Hub scheme.
The proposed development is designed to provide 792 student homes and improved facilities in an area around the Middlesex University campus in The Burroughs, Hendon. ....

Barnet Council 'Hendon hub' plans open for review | This Is Local London


Plans to redevelop an area around a university campus have been put forward for review in a public consultation.
Residents have until March 21 to share their views on the scheme, known as the ‘Hendon Hub’, which would see the development of The Burroughs and other nearby sites to integrate new academic and public spaces.
Barnet Council is working with Middlesex University and Barnet Library Services to deliver the new scheme.
The scheme in Hendon includes a new public library, university teaching space and student accommodation, and improved public open spaces.
Barnet Council leader Cllr Dan Thomas said: “Our commitment to creating a thriving, family-friendly place to live, work and study are at the heart of our plans for the Hendon Hub. I am delighted that we can invest in bringing exciting new community spaces and academic facilities to the Hendon area, replacing the rundown buildings on The Burroughs and Church End with modern, attractive build ....
