Around a half dozen attended Monday’s Henderson County Board of Commissioners meeting to express concerns about increased traffic, decreased property values, and potential crime at the site. The ZBA meeting to take up the matter was originally rescheduled for June 30, but the attorney for the applicant had an issue with the date, according to Project Development Planner and Zoning Administrator Matt Champion. An agreement was reached last week for the July 28 meeting date, which will be held at 4 p.m. at the Thomas Auditorium at Blue Ridge Community College. ....

With the matter on Wednesday’s agenda, a crowd including concerned property owners filled the inside and outside of the King Street meeting room in Hendersonville. An attorney for nearby property owners asked the board for a continuance and to hold future meetings at a larger venue. He said his clients needed more time to consult with experts such as traffic engineers, stormwater experts and an appraiser. ....
