the dog was inside the house. the fire took 30 minutes. and when they found him, thank god he s safe. reporter: it started with four homes burning on this patterson street. as firefighters fought that fire, another fire started a block away, consuming three more homes. when it was all over, 31 residents were displaced. now we lost everything that s in there, from the top. now we don t have anything. reporter: is it just coincidence that two fires started a block away from each other at the same time? one neighbor claims kids playing with matches started the fire. investigators say they re looking into that claim. it s too early to tell. we don t really have any information. we do have agencies here. they ll do obviously an investigation of both fires to see if there is any connection. reporter: and tonight 31 people are looking for a place to stay as firefighters clean up this scene here. six firefighters were hurt battling this fire, but we re told their injuries
