Alex Peter Passes | Standardbred Canada

Longtime harness racing industry participant Alex Peter of Melbourne, Ont. passed away on April 28, 2021 at the age of 90. Alex passed away peacefully at Glendale Crossing in London, Ont. with all his children close by to spend time with him, as was his wish. Alex was born in Spiritwood, Sask., June 29, 1930. He moved from Saskatchewan to Ontario with his family in the mid-1930 s. In 1954 he married Helen Farkas and together they raised the 5 J s (Jen, Joe, Jul, Jod and Jon). In 1957, he began working with Harold Row & Sons selling Badger farm equipment. He received many sales awards throughout the years and in 1989 sold his business, Alex Peter & Sons. Being a community-minded man, he stayed active with the local Lions club selling raffle tickets, volunteering at bingos and fundraising for the local Lion s senior housing complex which he resided in for several years.
