(WIS) - Three people are without a home this New Year’s Eve after a house fire Thursday morning. It happened in the 1000 block of Heidt Street in Columbia, the Fire Department said. That’s just south of Gervais Street near the intersection with Millwood Avenue. Thankfully, no one was home at the time of the fire so no one was hurt. Investigators determined the fire was caused by a malfunction of heating equipment in the home’s living room. ....
Members of the Columbia Fire Department responded to the 1000 block of Heidt Street Thursday morning for a house fire with a possible occupant entrapment. The public was notified of the fire just after 11 a.m. via the department s social media. According to CFD, no one was found inside when firefighters searched the home, and there were no injuries. However, three people have been left displaced. CFD reported that after an investigation, it was determined the fire was caused by heating equipment in the living room that malfunctioned.
