To ensure reliable service, maintenance work at the base of two utility poles will impact area traffic along Dairy Road fronting the Maui Marketplace in Kahului on Tuesday, April 30, Wednesday, May 1, and Thursday, May 2, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No service interruptions are planned for this work.
Ameresco, Inc. is hosting a open house community meeting on Tuesday, May 7, to provide information and seek community input about its ‘Ūkiu Energy project located across from the Central Maui Landfill behind Hawaiian Electric’s Waena substation.
The ʻUkiu Energy 40-megawatt (MW) biofuel-powered generator facility would be built on 10 acres owned by Hawaiian Electric at Waena across from the Central Maui Landfill – Refuse and Recycling Center on Pūlehu Road.
Update: 8 p.m., Aug. 1, 2023. Crews from Hawaiian Electric Company continue work to repair downed power lines that were damaged Tuesday afternoon when a tree fell on the equipment in Makawao. HECO advises that customers will remain without power until crews complete repairs.
