Initially, there were low numbers of applications for the Kere Mitra initiative but BBMP has received 762 applications so far. From the first set of 690 applications, the civic body has selected 124 Kere Mitras.
The demands include that BWSSB should make provisions for alternative water sources, such as leasing private borewells and renting additional tankers to bridge the gap in supply and demand of water and BBMP must regulate and subsidise the prices of all water tankers.
Shivprasad S, a reader of BM, remarked, “The skywalk is like a dark alley at night. It’s terrifying. Many avoid using it after sunset. It’s not safe for anyone, especially for women travelling alone.”
The newly-introduced routes are designated as 500HS, covering Sarjapura to Hebbal, and KIAL 8D, linking Sarjapura to the airport. These routes pass through key locations such as Dommasandra, Kodathi, Doddakanelli, Kadubeesanahalli, and Marathalli, addressing the transportation needs of residents in these areas.
On the other hand, BBMP officials have expressed expectations of revenue amounting to Rs 5,000 crore in the form of property tax. They also plan to unveil a new advertising policy capable of generating Rs 1,000 crore. There is a proposal to construct a sky deck at a height of 350 metres.
