there s a tried and true trajectory for presidential candidates as they enter act two, the legendary pivot where they try to wriggle from the ideological positions in the primary in order to appeal to the base of the party. often it s done retorically, a softening of tones but sometimes it s done substancively, an actual change of positions when president obama opposed immunity for the telecon companies that partied in wiretapping and then signed off on the immunity deal that was struck by president bush and the congressional democrats. mitt romney has been on both sides of more or less every issue. he already has a well-earned reputation as a habitual position changer, a finger to the wind politician who alters his pronouncements based on what s politically expedient, he would seem to have less flexibility to do that now as he enters the general election. it is possible that ironically romney s now legendary reputation for insincerity will actually help him in the gene ....

germs and infections to spread. reporter: gbnc reports a 17% increase in patients with flu like symptoms. as people come in here with flu like symptoms they will be treated right here in these tents so that they can prevent less spread in the hospital. even those people will be asked to take precautions. hand sanitizer and surgical masks are scheduled throughout the evening. i asked for it. reporter: shannon dulan brought her asthmatic son to the hospital and insisted on wearing the mask to protect her family at home from the virus. when i get to the door, they re wearing them, if i come in and they re wearing them, i better have one on. reporter: they also want to keep the virus away from the delivery unit. maryland officials are hoping to get the vaccine shot in as early as this week or perhaps next week. unlike the nasal mist version of the vaccine, the shot version of the vaccine is good for pregnant women and those who have severe allergies. we re live in ....

protecting children from swine flu, hospitals put new restrictions for children. hell low again i m don scott. and i m mary bubala. hospitals are closing the doors to young visitors to keep swine flu from spreading. but not everybody is in approval. derek valcourt has the story. good afternoon derek. [audio difficulties ] reporter: unless your children need medical care, leave them at home when you go to the hospital. several area hospitals are requiring visiting children under 17 be kept out of patient care areas. that s because young people are considered more at risk carriers and transmitters of the virus. we ve already had 76 children dying from the 2009h1n1 virus. and it s only the beginning of october. reporter: 19 of those deaths came in the last week alone. just a few weeks ago, maryland lost its second child to the h1n1 flu, 14-year-old destiny parker. some hospital visitors with children were already turned away. we were given a call, and they told u ....
