CHELMSFORD The school district has adopted a new response plan for identifying close contacts of coronavirus cases, but safety and communication concerns remain.
The School Committee voted unanimously on Feb. 16 to adopt the plan, with an eye toward notification of staff, allowing for school vacation.
The School Committee plans to finalize communications at its March 2 meeting.
New guidelines
Superintendent of Schools Jay Lang said under the new guidelines, a student or staff member who tests positive would still require notification of the entire school.
However, rather than requiring the entire class of that person to quarantine, the only ones required to quarantine would be those within 6 feet or less for 15 minutes or more in 24 hours.
