Midwestern University has partnered with the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation to create new opportunities for high school students in Arizona’s rural areas to explore careers in the health sciences.

High school students interested in an in-depth look at healthcare careers are encouraged to apply for Midwestern University s annual Health Careers Institute for High School Students, which will take place from Aug. 1-4, 2023.
Midwestern University, in partnership with the BHHS Legacy Foundation, is offering high school students a full slate of free programs designed to stoke their interest in health care careers.

High school juniors and seniors interested in healthcare were given an in-depth and hands-on look at potential careers in various disciplines at Midwestern University’s annual Health Careers Institute for High School Students, which took place from July 12 – 16.
Attendees participated in 40 hours of workshops, labs, and interactive activities during the event, which was held for five days from 8:00am until 4:00pm each day. Forty-eight high schoolers from 32 schools – including three out-of-state schools – were selected for the program, including 40 juniors and eight seniors.
Midwestern faculty and student mentors volunteered to teach workshops in anatomy and introductory skills for various health professions, with a special focus on how to prepare for college and what to expect from each profession.
