Rates coming off zero for the first time since late 2008, raising rates by a quarter point. the markets certainly do not seem like they re anticipating a rate hike from the federal reserve, given that inflation is falling, world markets are in turmoil, and u.s. employment picture looks line, which is one half of the fed s mandate, but they haven t met the other half on the inflation front, so many people think they ll wait. and to your point, this is all about, it seems, anyway, perspective of how the economy is doing and what you choose to weigh more than the other. so with the fed two-day meeting, what does it appear that they are weighing the most? it clearly is not the unemployment number. no, which by most measures are markedly improved from where they were when the fed was truly worrying about the labor market situation. in fact, we re hearing there are shortages of workers in the construction industry right now, believe it or not. so that on that side, it s fine. wage infl ....
