global economy unless we take this particular monkey, health care costs, off of our back. the health care curve has been down in recent years. some of that is responsible has to do with prescription drug costs coming down. some of that may have to do with obamacare and some of the payment reforms that they imt plimted implemented, coordination of care and that sort of thing. very interesting at this point these three outstanding companies coming forward to try to push that ball a little bit further forward. gary cohen already said it earlier on tv today. president trump is likely to talk about big infrastructure plans tonight. there s already a new report out that says more than 50,000 bridges in the united states are falling apart. clearly this needs to be addressed. but you ve got to find the money. the president wants to talk about this but how is this going to work, nuts and bolts? we know he s not going to get into details but they have to be hidden in there somewhere.
drive down the health care curve and also to insure over 30 million people. it s laudible goals. should there be reform? sure. the president and congress should sit down and do it in a bipartisan way. how they are is going to run in 16 and 14 there s a chance this might work. republican talking point on the health care. don t republicans and i m hearing more and more republican governors and leaders, eric cantor said this, more republicans said we need an alternative. if we want to make a difference, we have to have i ve been pushing every guest i speak with why don t you pass one sheet of paper, keep the pre-existing conditions, the doughnut hole the five most popular things and pass it. take the other 1800 pages and throw it out and keep the good
month after tax credit. brian: obviously you don t know what your co-pay is. you don t know what your premium is. you don t know what you re getting for that amount of money. do you get to pick your own doctor? steve: that s just it. you were talking about new york state. i looked up for new jersey, where i live, and in new jersey it turns out there would be this is going to be part of the federally operated exchange. there are only going to be three insurance companies selling on it. horizon, blue cross-blue shield, ameri health new jersey. here s the thing. if my doctor doesn t take any of those three companies, i m not going to be able to keep my doctor as the president promised. the president also promised that he was going to bend the health care curve down because it had been going up. not the case in new jersey. in fact, if you re a family of four, the average plan is going to cost you $943, which is among the highest
threshold. neil: ben, what do you make of this? there s a great economist from the mid 20th century frank knight he said take advantage of all government subsidies. this is a clear example of that. people are taking advantage of a gigantic subsidy through obamacare and of course, it s not free. the rest of us are going to be paying for it. and upper income taxpayers, especially, will be paying for it. there s a surcharge on us. we re going to be paying for it. turns out it s another obama transfer of wealth for hard working people to middle income and lower income people and that s all right with me, that s the way that life is supposed to work. let s not kid ourselves, that obama has a miraculous way of bending the health care curve. that s just nonsense. adam, then, do you feel guilty? every day, neil, not because of this. (laughter) that s good, that s good. i enjoyed the cool brands that we had an opportunity to
to a report by the commonwealth fund. the report looked at factors such as quality of care and access to care. but look at the cost. if you combine the per capita cost of the two nations on this list, netherlands and uk you still don t equal costs. they have been soaring long before object care and it s continued to rise in the two years since it became the law of the land. in other words, like a lot of things with this president, he didn t cause the problem but hasn t fixed it either. republicans not willing to give up the fight over health care despite the supreme court decision. the message before and after the ruling is crystal clear. i will repeal obama care. we need to repeal obama care. repeal obama care. only one way to truly fix obama care, only one way, and that s a full repeal. repeal and replace. but replace with what? republican randy forbes of virginia was actually a few people inside that courtroom when the historic decision was announced. congressman
