Vietnam would like to study Belarus' experience in building a nuclear power plant, Head of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) Olga Lugovskaya told BelTA during the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Hanoi, Vietnam.
Olga Lugovskaya said: “On the whole, we've analyzed the readiness of the operating enterprise to perform its functions as a subject that bears full responsibility for the safety of the Belarusian nuclear power plant."
Olga Lugovskaya said: “As a beginner country Belarus has hosted all the necessary missions. As their results we received recommendations, which allow us to raise the level of our requirements, correctly organize the infrastructure, and ensure the unconditional fulfillment of all the safety requirements.”
When a license is to be granted, all the stages are evaluated and considered, including the first loading of fuel into the reactor core, subcritical trials of the reactor unit, the fulfillment of physical experiments, reactor power startup, and pilot commercial operation.
The official said: “Our Russian colleagues played the key role in providing assistance with the development of the infrastructure. We very tightly cooperated with Rostechnadzor. It is a regulatory body in the Russian Federation.”
