(File photo) MANILA - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday said it has already achieved its target of at least 1.5 million voter registrants, with over a week before the registration deadline. Based on its latest figures as of Jan. 22, the poll body said a total of 1,537,872 applications have been filed in all registration sites in connection with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) set this October. Earlier, the Comelec projected that some 1.5 million to 2 million applicants will register during the period which started on Dec. 12, 2022 and will run until Jan. 31, 2023. The number of new registrants include 442,330 voters aged 15 to 17 years old; 397,323 voters aged 18 to 30 years old; and 86,818 voters aged 31 years old and above. On the other hand, a total of 7,555 applications have been filed in the Register Anywhere Project (RAP) booths in malls, universities and government offices.
