The Virginia Beach Fire Department says it has put out a 2-alarm fire in Hawkins Mill. The fire department tweeted that they were at the scene, in the 5000 block of Hawkins Mill Way, shortly before 5 p.m. A few minutes later, officials tweeted that it had been upgraded to a 2-alarm fire, with heavy flames on the second floor of the building. Officials said that as of 5:40 p.m. the fire was out. ....
Driver airlifted after Southwest Virginia school bus crash Authorities said the person has life-threatening injuries Published: Tags: A driver is suffering from life-threatening injuries after a bus crash in Russell County (WSLS) RUSSELL COUNTY, Va. – A driver was airlifted to a nearby hospital after a school bus crash in Russell County, according to Virginia State Police. Authorities said the accident happend just before 8 a.m. Tuesday on Route 58 at Hawkins Mill Road. According to State Police, a county school bus was stopped in the right eastbound lane to pick up students when a 2003 Honda rearended the bus. Police said the bus’ flashing lights were activated and there were 17 students on board at the time of the accident. One minor injury was reported among the bus passengers, authorities said. ....
Mayor Jim Strickland said Amazon continues to deliver new jobs to Memphis. “From day one Amazon has been such a great partner, and we’re so happy they are continuing to expand their footprint in Memphis, he said in a statement. Amazon has more than 450 delivery stations nationally, with four in Tennessee. This will be the second in Memphis. While the pandemic has disrupted many industries, e-commerce boomed, allowing the giant Seattle-based company to continue to grow. Amazon said it hired more than 14,000 people in Tennessee last year it did not specify how many it hired in Memphis 38% of whom were unemployed at the time of their hiring. ....
