SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A 17-year-old is dead following a crash in Manatee County.
The crash happened Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Hawaiian Drive and 63rd Ave West. A Nissan Versa was traveling northbound on the roadway approaching the stop sign. A motorcycle, operated by a 17-year-old boy collided with the car as the driver attempted to make a left turn.
The motorcycle attempted to slow down, however he was unable to stop prior to striking the left side of the car. The teen was pronounced deceased on the scene.
A teenage motorcycle rider was killed in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Manatee County, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
According to the FHP, a Nissan Versa driven by a 75-year-old Arizona woman heading north on Hawaiian Drive approached the stop sign at 63rd Avenue West shortly before 1 p.m.
A motorcycle ridden by a 17-year-old Bradenton boy was traveling east on 63rd Avenue, approaching Hawaiian Drive.
The Nissan pulled into the roadway in an attempt to make a left turn onto 63rd Avenue. The motorcycle attempted to slow down but the vehicles collided.
The teenage biker, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead. The Nissan’s driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt.
