Tonight s NXT New Year’s Evil will go head-to-head with the New Year’s Smash Night 1 edition of AEW Dynamite on TNT.
TV Guide is advertising the New Year’s Evil episode running from 8 pm until 10:08pm, giving the show an extra 8 minutes. Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that he’s heard the show could get an extra 10 mins of air time.
The show will also feature two matches that are airing with no commercials, opener Damian Priest vs. Karrion Kross, and the main event featuring Kyle O’Reilly taking on NXT Champion Finn Balor.

NXT General Manager has announced that Timothy Thatcher has sustained a minor injury and as such he will not be able to wrestle tonight on medical grounds.
Thatcher was due to go up against Tommaso Ciampa in the NXT Fight Pit but the match will now take place at a later date.
WWE has pulled all advertising for the match.
Amanda Huber posted on Instagram further details regarding the contract AEW offered her son.
“Also, just for clarity’s sake.
1) His contract with AEW is valid on his 18th birthday if he chooses to wrestle. Nobody is going to push it with him. If you were to spend 10 minutes talking to him you’d understand why they gave him a contract though.
2) School is number one for him.
3) He is not seriously training at the moment or will be taking bookings or anything ridiculous right now.
I know I shouldn’t have to clarify but with social media I end up seeing stories how he’s being forced into this or questions about his “contract” or all sorts of craziness.

AEW has announced the following lineup for tonight’s Dynamite episode on TNT, which is being hyped as a New Year s Smash (Night one).

- AEW Women’s Championship Match: Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Abadon
- The Young Bucks & SCU vs. The Acclaimed & TH2
- Cody vs. Matt Sydal
