Our chopper has been live above an active water rescue. Well show you in a minute. Police, fire, and the coast guard are looking for someone who may have gone under the water near the beach. An initial dive team came back unsuccessful. You can see alameda fire crews there on the jetty. They have tethered scuba teams that swam out looking for this person and a coast guard helicopter is circling above. The call first came in at about 4 30 this afternoon. At this point theres no word yet what this person was doing out in the bay or how they got stranded in the water, but you can see there is a wart water rescue happening as we speak. A lastminute effort to ease californias insurance crisis appears to have failed. That means no relief in sight for homeowners struggling to get coverage. Rumors have been swirling about a potential legislative deal to keep Insurance Companies from bailing on california. The deadline has passed for it to come together in time for the end of the legislative session tomorrow. Consumer advocates say that is a good thing, saying it essentially would have been a bailout for the industry that could have led to huge rate increases. We have been reporting how insurers have been cutting coverage in california, blaming devastating wildfires, increasing costs and strict regulation. Exodus has left homeowners scrambling.
