La Jolla cityhood proposal, Point La Jolla, La Casa de los Amigos, Adelante Townhomes, business burglaries, sidewalk vendors and the La Jolla Park Coastal Historic District are some of the issues that made headlines.
With few questions and lot of praise, the San Diego Planning Commission unanimously gave its approval Feb. 2 to a project to develop part of Coast Boulevard South in La Jolla by remodeling and/or moving some houses including historic cottages and building new townhomes.
Despite concerns about impacts from construction and traffic, the La Jolla Community Planning Association voted unanimously Dec. 1 to support a plan to develop a site on Coast Boulevard South that contains historically designated houses.
The Muirlands home is named after landscape architect Joseph Yamada and his wife, civic activist Elizabeth Yamada, who lived there from 1973 until their deaths in 2020.
