0 it s the kind of incident that would be seen as just crime, as a local tragic incident of senseless violence, but for the motive and the means for which this particular crime was carried out. it happened just after 2:00 p.m. local time near an army barracks there. a man was walking on the sidewalk from eyewitness and police accounts, what appears to have happened is two men driving a car appear to have steered on the sidewalk, exited the vehicle, then set upon the man they just hit with the car and essentially cut him to pieces. they were armed with large knives, what appeared to have been at least a large kitchen knife and a cleaver and whether the man was dead already when they hit him with the car or whether they set upon him, whether killed him with the car or killed him after, regardless, in the end, it was these two men left standing covered in blood and not trying to flee the scene. this was in broad daylight in a well-trafficked area, lots of pedestrians around. there s a pri ....

0 congress has put a lot of restrictions on them. the president could take the step of going around congress and waiving all of those restrictions. not sure that he s going to go that far. well, some of the restrictions i think would be very difficult to weigh because you have to make assurances that you re sure that the detainees won t then turn around and again be in a position to threaten the united states. he ll say he ll do what he can to reduce the numbers at guantanamo. we do have that terrible hunger strike going on there. most of the prisoners there are now on hunger strikes. and that s createsing some big problems for the administration. i do think this is, it s a big speech. it goes beyond the particulars of the controversy over gitmo, even drone strikes. in the 12 years since the september 11th attacks, i think americans have felt they ve been on constant war footing in the war on terror. as he said before, he doesn t view the war on terror as a useful phrase. but i think ....
