Deadly day for SAPS: Six young officers killed in tragic circumstances SAPS officials have been left reeling this week, after six members of the force died in separate accidents across one 24-hour period this week. SAPS officers killed on-duty Four members were killed in a car crash in the Chris Hani District, whereas two other serving officers were knocked down by a vehicle as they were investigating an accident scene in KZN for clues. SAPS confirmed the deaths – which all took place on Monday 26 April – via a statement issued earlier this evening: “In the Eastern Cape, four members were travelling back home on Sunday from the Chris Hani District where they were part of a SAPS team that were deployed to the area to conduct crime prevention and awareness campaigns. The four were killed instantly following a collision between the police vehicle they were travelling in and a truck near Engcobo.” ....
