Planning for an 'Uncertain' Future, Cambridge Unveils Climate Resilience Plan | News


The city of Cambridge released a report on the effects of climate change on the city and long-term recommendations for climate resilience.
The Resilient Cambridge Plan, a 70-page document detailing the history of climate change’s effects on the Cambridge area and offering suggestions to increase resilience and preparedness in the future, was drafted by a steering committee of seven city officials.
It is the result of more than eight years of work that began in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, said city environmental planner John Buldoc, a member of the steering committee.
“The Resilient Cambridge Plan is basically the city’s roadmap on how to adapt Cambridge to our future climate,” he said. ....

Sanjana S. Ramrajvel ’22 and her blockmates, who usually live in Dunster House, were dispersed geographically this past academic year. Though long distance placed a strain on their relationships, she said their ties to their Harvard House united them.
“We all try to make it a point to go to the Dunster trivia nights,” she said. “We would just all Zoom in from wherever we were, and that was a fun way for us to bond, but I definitely would say that we contacted each other a lot less because we weren’t physically in the same location.”
Ramrajvel is one of the many students at the College who opted to live off campus this past academic year, either barred from campus as a result of the public health crisis or opting to avoid the strict residential guidelines for those in the dorms. ....

College Announces New Adams House Faculty Deans | News


Mercedes C. Becerra ’91 and Salmaan Keshavjee will serve as the new faculty deans of Adams House, Dean of Harvard College Rakesh Khurana announced in a Tuesday email to Adams House affiliates.
Becerra is a professor of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, while Keshavjee serves as an Anthropology professor in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences as well as a Global Health and Social Medicine professor at the Medical School. They will begin their roles on July 1.
Khurana wrote that he was “thrilled to welcome” the new pair of deans and also thanked Adams House affiliates for their support during the search. ....

DSO Reflects on Covid-Impacted Year, Anti-Racism Goals | News


As the school year nears a close, administrators in the Dean of Students Office reflected on students experiences during the past academic year amid the coronavirus pandemic in an interview with The Crimson on Tuesday.
Harvard held courses online during the 2020-2021 academic year due to the public health crisis. For the fall semester, the College only invited freshmen and a select group of upperclassmen to live in residence, while juniors, seniors, and a cohort of petitioning students were invited to campus in the spring.
Students living in residence had to comply with a spate of residential guidelines, including social distancing guidelines and Covid-19 testing three times per week. ....
