Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal has asked a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to reject computer-generated documents sought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to be tendered as exhibits in his alleged N544 million contract fraud trial.
Lawal told the court that the forensic laboratory report generated from a computer was not admissible because they were not in their original form and not certified as required by law.
The EFCC through, Ofem Uket, had sought to tender a forensic laboratory report obtained from an iPhone print out belonging to one Musa Bulani to establish the money laundering charges filed against the former SGF and five others. ....

N544m grass-cutting scam: Fmr SGF's brother, Hamidu Lawal's firm indicted by EFCC witness


An FCT High Court in Jabi, Abuja, was on Wednesday told that the ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, was not involved in the award of the alleged N544 million grass-cutting scam awarded by the Presidential Initiative for North East (PINE).
An Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) witness, Hamza Adamu Buwai, however, admitted that a consultancy job was awarded to Rholavision Engineering Limited where Lawal’s sibling has an interest.
Buwai testified before Justice Charles Agbaza, in the alleged contract fraud charge brought against Lawal and five others by the EFCC.
The ex-SGF is standing trial alongside his younger brother, Hamidu Lawal, a director of Rholavision; an employee of the company, Suleiman Abubakar; Managing Director of Josmon Technologies Limited, Apeh John Monday; Rholavision Engineering Limited and Josmon Technologies Limited. ....

A prosecution witness on today told the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) inadvertently did not approve consultancy contract for a company a former SGF, Babachir Lawal, is said to have an interest.
The witness, Hamza Adamu Buwai, who was the Head, Finance and Account of the Presidential Initiative on North East (PINE), stated this while testifying before Justice Charles Agbaza, sitting at Jabi, Abuja, in the alleged contract fraud charge brought against the former SGF and five others by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). ....
