Man, Two Pets Killed In Overnight CT House Fire

A 59-year-old man and two pets are dead following a house fire overnight. The blaze in Hamden was reported around 10:15 p.m.,  Tuesday, March 9, at 775 Hill Street after the fire department received numerous 911 calls from neighbors. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy fire in the breezeway and garage that was spreading into the house, said Hamden Fire Chief Gary Merwede. A 59-year-old man was found dead in the living room.  He has been identified as Frank Mangiero.  Two occupants of the home were able to safely evacuate. One exited through a bedroom window. The other occupant exited through the front door and notified fire department personnel that another person was still inside the house, Merwede said.
