i think the admiral is right. it s the context of this particular president. you think back to the first days of the administration when he went to the pentagon to announce james mattis s confirmation as secretary of defense, and he he signed his travel ban at the pentagon in front of this hall of heroes in this hallowed place. from that point forward, he has used these opportunities that he could sort of fashion into a bipartisan support of the armed forces and the military. but instead tends to veer into, you know, talking about his supporters, talking about other issues. i mean, i frankly wouldn t be surprised if we hear something about the mueller report tomorrow. you know what i mean? who knows? maybe he will avoid that. but that s the problem. it s always wrapped in a much more partisan, political patina than with other presidents. and i agree. even if the speech is pitch perfect, he doesn t go political
by the fbi for potential terrorist activity. but u.s. officials are refusing to say what countries any of those refugees are from and even whether a single one of them comes from one of these countries in question. here is the attorney general. like every nation, the united states has a right to control who enters our country and to keep out those who would do us harm. this executive order seeks to protect the american people as well as lawful immigrants by putting in place an enhanced screening and vetting process for visitors from six countries. reporter: this is such a different rollout too. the first executive order, remember, it was in the pentagon s hall of heroes. it was president trump in this big ceremony with the secretary of defense right next to him. well, this time the white house had him sign this in private. they just put out a photo of him doing that. the big question the last time
presidency. now what about the uniform in the pentagon, the foreign service professionals in the state that you deal with? i think president trump certainly has far more political capital to spend with the pentagon than he necessarily does with the state department. at the pentagon they are willing to give him much more of the benefit of the doubt because it tends to be more of a conservative democratic a conservative demographic than the state department, career diplomats tend to lean more liberal than the military does. that said, he spent quite a bit of that capital with the by executing the signing the muslim ban order in the hall of heroes at the pentagon. that did not go over well at all. mattis wasn t happy. mattis wasn t happy. the uniformed men in the room he was standing in front of people who have won the medal of honor, many of them immigrants himself. i was at the pentagon that day. that didn t go over well at all. he is already spending some of his politic
